When You Feel Lost — 15 Bible Stories and Guided Reflections for Teenagers
As a father, my first instinct is always to fix things. If my child has a problem, I want to give advice and find a solution. But with teenagers, I’ve learned that sometimes the more advice you give, the less they want to talk. My son had been going through a period where he seemed distant. Nothing was obviously wrong, but I could tell he was carrying something. I didn’t want to keep asking him questions until he completely shut down. I came across this book and thought it might be something he could explore privately. What I appreciated was that it wasn’t telling him what he should think. The stories gave him something to relate to, and the questions gave him space to think for himself. A couple of weeks later, I noticed him writing in it one evening. Later that night, we ended up having one of those conversations that fathers don’t forget. He told me some of the things he’d been worrying about. That conversation wasn’t because the book somehow fixed him. It simply opened a door. And sometimes, as a father, opening that door is all you can hope for.

When You Feel Lost — 15 Bible Stories and Guided Reflections for Teenagers
I honestly wasn’t expecting much when I first opened this. I’ve read Bible stories before, and sometimes they feel like stories from a completely different world. I was thinking, “Okay, but what does this have to do with me?” But the reflections changed that for me. I’ve been feeling really lost lately. Not necessarily in one huge dramatic way, but just this constant feeling that everyone else knows what they’re doing and I don’t. School, friends, my future, my faith… everything feels confusing sometimes. One of the stories made me think about how people in the Bible also had moments where they were afraid, doubtful, or didn’t know what was going to happen next. I ended up writing honestly in the journal instead of trying to write what I thought I was supposed to feel. I still don’t have my whole life figured out. But after finishing a few chapters, I felt strangely calmer. Like maybe I don’t need every answer right now. I think I just needed to be reminded that being lost for a while doesn’t mean I’m going nowhere.

When You Feel Lost — 15 Bible Stories and Guided Reflections for Teenagers
I bought this for my daughter because lately she seemed so confused about everything. She was becoming quieter, spending a lot of time on her phone, worrying about school and her future, and whenever I asked her what was wrong, she would just say “nothing.” I honestly didn’t know how to reach her without making her feel like I was lecturing her again. What I liked about this book is that it doesn’t feel like another parenting lecture disguised as a devotional. The Bible stories are simple enough for a teenager to actually sit and read, but the reflection questions are what really made a difference. My daughter started writing in the journal instead of just reading the stories and putting the book away. A few days later, she actually came to me and started talking about something that had been bothering her. That little conversation meant so much to me. The book didn’t magically solve everything, but it gave her a quiet space to process things and reminded her that she could turn to God when she didn’t have all the answers. As a mother, that was exactly what I was hoping for.

When You Feel Lost — 15 Bible Stories and Guided Reflections for Teenagers
I was looking for something meaningful to give my teenage niece, but I didn’t want to buy her another generic inspirational book that would sit untouched on a shelf. This felt different because it’s something she can actually do something with. There are Bible stories, but also reflection sections and questions where she can write down her own thoughts. It feels much more personal than simply reading a devotional. She told me she liked that she didn’t have to show anyone what she wrote. She could be completely honest about her fears, questions and things she was struggling with. A few days after giving it to her, she sent me a message saying, “I actually really like this.” Coming from a teenager, that was basically a five-star review by itself. 😂 I’m just happy I gave her something that might stay with her a little longer than an ordinary gift.

When You Feel Lost — 15 Bible Stories and Guided Reflections for Teenagers
There was a time when I felt guilty about my relationship with God. I’d pray for a few days, then stop. I’d feel close to Him one week and completely disconnected the next. And every time that happened, I felt like I was failing at being a Christian. This book made me look at that differently. I liked that the stories included people who weren’t perfect. People who were afraid, people who made mistakes, people who doubted, people who ran away and still found their way back. The journaling questions were surprisingly personal. Some of them made me sit there for several minutes because I genuinely didn’t know how to answer. I started keeping the book beside my bed and reading one story before sleeping. It became this little part of my day where I could put my phone away, stop comparing myself to everyone else, and just be honest with God. I started this book because I felt far from God. I finished it feeling like maybe He hadn’t been far from me at all.
